CELAC quartet will meet in Quito to discuss its goals
The quartet of diplomats from Ecuador, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and the Bahamas of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC for its Spanish acronym) will meet on Monday, March 23 in Quito to talk about the group’s goals, which include the fight against poverty. This meeting, that has the support of Eclac, seeks to initiate the analysis about actions aimed at realizing the goals set by the group for the next five years.
The CELAC is committed to reduce the extreme poverty and inequality; increase support for education, science, technology and innovation; environment and climate change; financing for development; infrastructure and connectivity.
In addition, it will work in the positions the community will present at international forums and its relationship with other countries or blocs, especially with the European Union, India, Russia, United Nations and the Post 2015 Agenda, among others.
