César Monge ‘loses’ one of the lawsuits Jimmy Jairala submitted against him
César Monge, President of CREO, was sentenced to six months in prison, to offer a public apology and pay a compensation of $ 170,000 plus legal costs, in one of the trials the Prefect of Guayas, Jimmy Jairala, follows by alleged libel, said the lawyer of Jairala, Alembert Vera, who explained that the decision would have been notified via judicial mailbox yesterday.
Vera said that the judge of Criminal Guarantees, Darwin Valencia, expressed in his resolution the possibility for the defendant to request the suspension of imprisonment, based on an article of the Comprehensive Criminal Code.
The lawyer said that this option can fit “in the case he meets the rest of the sentence,” which would be to offer a public apology (in a national written media, in Spanish, Quechua and Shuar), and to pay compensation and legal costs.
The current ruling was made by the accusations that Monge made in an interview with Radio Atalaya, on an alleged diversion of funds.
