Posted On 02 May 2011
In the province of Chimborazo, while the Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa was making his sabbatine tv transmission, Assemblyman for National Consensus, César Montufar, was beaten on the outside of the coliseum Chambo by a supporter of Alianza País government party.
Assemblyman with his supporters staged a peaceful sit-in requesting the President a public debate on the issues of the referendum. This proposal was rejected by the president, who catalogued protesters as a mediocre group.
As soon as the TV transmission ended, a supporter form Alianza Pais, hit Montufar in the eye. Authorities arrested the aggressor accusing him to perpetrate a public scandal. Montufar was released after a few hours later.
