Cesar Montufar Willing to Quit his Immunity
After writing in his Twitter account to be willing to withdraw of his immunity as an Assemblyman, Cesar Montufar makes a formal request to the Assembly.
“(…) I’ll answer Correa’s challenge of withdrawing my immunity (…),” wrote Montufar.
In one of his pronouncements on the action of the parliamentary opposition, President Rafael Correa challenged the Assemblyman to get rid of his immunity to prove that his allegations are true. “I invite Cesar Montufar to quit his immunity (…)”, announced the President.
On December 15, Montufar, from Concertación party, filed a complaint in the Prosecution of Guayas, in which he accuses Gutenberg Vera, President Correa’s attorney, of having written the sentence in the first instance against El Universo Newspaper and not the temporary judge Juan Paredes.
The lawsuit alleges that there were irregularities in the preparation of the sentence, which, if they were to check, would involve Vera on illegitimate participation of and ideological falsification and Correa’s personal enrichment.
