Changes in requirements for US visas
Ecuadorians who request, from this month, the non-immigrant visa / tourism visa to the US, will not be required to go to the interview and the taking of fingerprints just in three cases. This was announced by the US Consul General in Guayaquil, Patricia Fietz.
At a press conference for her first year in office, she explained that the first case, if the applicant is less than 14 years old and his parents have a valid visa for five years each; second, if the applicant is over 80 years of age; and third, if the applicant seeks to renew a document that was valid for 5 years and the 4 years of expiration have not yet met.
Fietz said that they aim to improve the processes in the granting of visas, and stressed that the petitioner will not have to appear but meet other requirements, such as filling out the form via Internet.
She also announced that the number of issued visas in Guayaquil went from 35,000 in 2012 to 98.000 in 2014.
