Citizenship shows rejection to unlimited re-election
According to a survey conducted by the firm Cedatos, 58% of the citizens is not in accordance with a constitutional amendment allowing indefinite reelection of the popularly elected authorities,while 36% did not show any discontent at this prospect.
Cedatos consulted this topic to 2.100 people in 15 cities, between September 30 and October 13.
The results of the survey indicate that the rejection is higher in the Highlands, since 65% answered negatively, however, on the Coast, only 52% showed disagreement.
Last August President Rafael Correa and the Alianza País movement proposed to the Mayor of Guayaquil, Jaime Nebot, to sign an agreement to establish the indefinite re-election, through anamendment to the Constitution governing since 2008, however the offers did not materialize, or has been resumed.
