Cléver Jiménez wins the Prefecture of Zamora Chinchipe

Posted On 27 Mar 2019

Ecuadornews:

The former Assemblyman of Pachakutik Cléver Jiménez has won the Prefecture of Zamora Chinchipe, with 47% of the votes, once one hundred percent of the polls have been counted in the National Electoral Council.

Jiménez, candidate of the Alianza Podemos Juntos, has won with just two points of difference over Karla Reátegui, the Pachakutik candidate, who has obtained 45%.

Jiménez was one of the most persecuted by the regime of Rafael Correa after he was sentenced to prison for insults, for having denounced (without evidence), together with the activist Fernando Villavicencio, that Correa had planned the events of September 30, 2010, When a group of police officers began a wage protest ended in an armed confrontation that the government accused as an attempted coup.
