Climate of Guayaquil will continue to cool until September

Posted On 10 Jul 2013

In the city of Guayaquil, the sectors of the South, Center and North received drizzle of low intensity, which were accompanied by breezes and coincided with a dense mist in all the city, as a result of the arrival of the summer.

Milton Preciado, inhabitant of the El Carmen hill, from where the people can see the city at different angles, said that lately, the mist appears two or three times a week, and that the current climate situation concerns him as in previous years the climate didn’t change so much.

However, Fabian Salas, meteorologist from the National Institute of meteorology and hydrology (Inamhi), points out that the current climate situation should not be a cause for concern since the conditions are normal for the time and the general characteristic is the mist. “Sometimes there is sea breeze in the morning, because there is a lot of oceanic moisture which causes rain,” said Salas.

The official noted that the presence of humidity in the morning at early hours is between 90% and 95%, what generates overcast skies and breeze, and added that among the effects of humidity is the entrance of winds from the Southwest (Pacific Ocean) to the East (into the Peninsula).

Salas indicated that these effects will continue this month and during August, while, in September there will be lower temperatures, since it would register up to 27 ° C as a maximum temperature.
