CNE and Post Office Executives Face Lawsuit in Ecuador
The National Coalition group filed a lawsuit for embezzlement against Omar Simon, president of the National Electoral Council (CNE in Spanish), and Roberto Cabanna, manager of the Postal Office, because they make it public the announcement of the members that are going to participate in the Polling Stations (JRV in Spanish).
The idea was to give the nominations to 207 billion members and to some it was delivered the government newspaper advertising of the consultation.
The opposition handed the petition to the Deputy Prosecutor Alfredo Alvear and accused of embezzlement to the electoral role holder and the manager of the courier company for misuse of funds. However, for the prosecution to investigate the crime and to become it a complaint, a report of the comptroller is required.
The member of the Electoral Council, Fausto Camacho, said the contract approved by Simon $ 300 billion without the knowledge of the whole, was for appointments but not for the newspaper The Citizen.
The postal company blamed one of its carriers, but chose not to reveal his identity. Despite that, his advisers said they were investigating and expect a report. While viewing the postman in charge, the CNE said it will ban the sending of the paper with government advertising.
