CNE divests Cléver Jimenez and collaborators from their political rights
On Wednesday afternoon was removed from the Electoral Register the Assemblyman of Pachakutik, Cléver Jiménez Cabrera, the activist Carlos Figueroa Figueroa and the former union leader Fernando Villavicencio Valencia.
This action was executed by the plenary of the National Electoral Council (CNE), organization that hosted the decision of the Coordinator General Counsel, on the loss of political rights or participation, by having executory judgment.
According to Article 64 of the Constitution and 14 of the Organic Law on Elections and Political Organizations of the Code of Democracy, `the enjoyment of political rights or participation will be suspended when the citizen has an enforceable judgment that punishes with imprisonment of freedom, while this persists.´
Jimenez, Figueroa and Villavicencio were sentenced to 18 months in prison for the crime of reviling the President, Rafael Correa.
