CNE has defined Cantonal districts
Last Monday, the National Electoral Council (CNE) finally approved the geographical boundaries of the sectional elections of February 2014, which consists of 13 cantons subdivided into constituencies.
The decision was made according to a study made by the Technical Coordination of Electoral Processes and Electoral Registry, which aims to create a balance between the population of each area and the number of seats or dignities to choose.
The subdivision will be carried out in the voting of councilors, while for the voting of other dignities (vice prefects, prefects, mayors, members of Parish Rural Boards), we will use the same system used for the choosing of assembly members from three provinces in last February elections.
The thirteen cities to be divided are: Guayaquil, Duran, Milagro, Quevedo, Machala, Esmeraldas, Manta, Portoviejo, Cuenca, Loja, Riobamba, Santo Domingo and Quito.
