CNE Hears Complaints from Outraged Leaders of Political Parties
Members of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish Acronym) listened for nearly seven hours, the claims of most political groups who argued that there are no legal bases to overturn the resolutions they used to get qualified and registered.
The CNE then presented a recommendations draft to the delegates of the non-ruling political parties and Alianza Pais party (AP for its Spanish Acronym).
In the draft it was established that all political movements that are already qualified and / or pending on its registrations, accept to go to the verification process of 100% of the signatures while maintaining their legal status, only if there is no statement from the Prosecutors’ Office that thinks otherwise.
This led to a widespread rejection from the non-government groups and also AP.
The parties gave several recommendations, including the cancellation of the August 5 CNE resolution (which establishes that groups that do not meet 1.5% of signatures will be canceled).
CNE President, Domingo Paredes said that the recommendations are going to be analyzed and affirmed that 100% of signatures of all groups, are already being inspected. MZ
