Colombia and Ecuador will discuss about trade issue
Posted On 12 Jan 2015
Trade ministers from Ecuador, Francisco Rivadeneira, and Colombia, Cecilia Alvarez-Correa, are scheduled to meet this Wednesday January 14 in Quito.
According to a press release from the Ecuadorian Ministry of Commerce, a “creative and objective dialoque on issues of commercial interest” will be maintained. However, the appointment would be held ten days after the application of a safeguard measure (tariff) of up to 21% over Colombian products, which caused the rejection of the neighboring government.
After Bogotá, through a statement, said last week it “emphatically rejects (…) and regrets its surprise adoption and without consultation (…), without attachment to the procedures set out in (…) the Andean Community (CAN).”
