The Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control yesterday (August 5) formed the citizens commission that will head the renovation contest of two of the five members of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym).
The commission is composed of: Edwin Alvarado, Blanca Ruiz, Jose Marmol, Jeaneth Zambrano, Luis Ascha, Doris Gallardo, William Carrillo, Aracely Paltán, Giovanny Bravo and Elisa Brito. The first five are the representatives of the citizens, while the latter five are the delegates of the Judicial, Legislative, Transparency and Social Control, Executive and Electoral functions.
Citizen delegates were selected through a public lottery after participating in a contest of merits and citizens challenge. The names of the government representatives were sent by each of the functions.
The Council also held a first discussion of the rules of competition for the renovation of the CNE members. The document will be taken up at a future meeting foranalysis at a second debate.
