Commissioners Resigned Due to an Alleged Corruption Network
Yesterday morning, a press conference was held at the Interior office of Guayas, where the Police Commissioner, Jacqueline Hurtado Valdez, announced her resignation and also the resignation of her four partners Cesar Hurtado, first deputy, Lorraine Alarcon, second; Estela Narvaez, fourth and Esther Ansuástegui, fifth.
The resignation of the five commissioners comes amid questions about acts of corruption for receiving bribes to avoid closing nightlife locals and the “sale” of tickets for release.
Currently, the suspected irregularities are been investigated by the National Management Transparency (SNTG for its Spanish acronyms).
Meanwhile, Jose Serrano, Interior Minister, announced he would not accept the outputs until the office is fully organized and a complete audit of Transparency.
