Dozens of people, mostly young people between 18 and 22 years, went to a job fair on Thursday in search of employment. The activity was organized by the Association of Waiters and Bartenders of Guayas and the School of Tourism Services and Hotels (Esturh), who sought to fill about 150 jobs in the first phase and about 2,500 in the long term.
Stalin Parrales, president of the Association, indicated that the jobs will be given by Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), which operates 18 restaurants franchises in the country, which plan to open each one a new location; besides three hotels of other companies in Guayaquil.
“We want to provide people who know about the food and beverage service; There is going to be an opportunity with the new restaurants, only in the hotel industry there are opportunities for 2,500 jobs, “said Parrales, who said that the selected candidates will be trained by the school for 15 or 30 days, depending on the position to be filled. The majority of that training will be free, since it will be covered by sponsors.
Parrales pointed out that the rapprochement between the association and the school with the franchise was given through a training that the union offered to the workers of one of the restaurants of the firm.
Mileny Alcívar, 21, who worked as an event waitress at the Sheraton Hotel, was one of the applicants who came to deliver her resume. “They have offered me a course to learn more and have more experience and thus be able to develop in the work they will give me,” said the young woman. (I)
