Controversy in Chile due Communication Bill
Yesterday the School of Journalists of Chile complained about a project set by congressman, Gaspar Rivas. The bill prohibits reporters to repeat questions during interviews. The regional president of journalists, Marcel Garces, said that such proposal is absurd.
The initiative presented by Rivas, pretends to take those reckless reporters against the local justice. The member of Parliament, the National Renovation and colleague of President Sebastian Piñera elaborated the project through an alleged case of journalist harassment against the former Miss Universe, Cecilia Bolocco.
This case was thoroughly debated through twitter in Chile; it also seems to have involved the police scandal of phone line espionage on several congressman and senators. All this facts have filled the front pages of newspapers; this has caused a strong debate about the freedom of speech in the country. (AV)
