Correa accuses his party of being silent and not defending his administration

Ecuadornews:
Silence remains. Former President Rafael Correa criticized the current government and its party Alianza PAIS, which he accused of “remaining silent” before the anti-corruption investigations and the course of events.
He did so from the space in which he has taken refuge to issue his criteria: his Twitter account. On Sunday, he “fired” several tweets that showed the atmosphere in the ruling party.
According to Correa, authorities of the government are supporting the opposition speech, “which does not care about the fight against corruption and only seeks political trophies.”
But what concerns him the most is the attitude of his party “where it is spoken of marking ‘distance’ with my government, perhaps it is clumsiness or disloyalty. Meanwhile, PAIS is silent. Only brave voices have been heard from the Legislature,” he wrote.
The tweets of the former president caused a stir in the official ranks. A PAIS meeting, scheduled for yesterday morning and rescheduled for the afternoon, was suspended indefinitely (I).
