Correa Calls Referees to Resume Activities

Posted On 20 Feb 2012

After the suspension of the 3rd and 4th date in series A of the National Soccer Championship by  Alfredo Intriago, president of the FEF (Ecuadorian Soccer Federation) due to the strike of referees, President Rafael Correa asked the soccer judges to abandon this measure and to resume their duties.

“Hopefully the problem has been overcome. If that has not passed, I call on the referees to take forward the championship (…) Things can be arranged through dialogue. I appeal to goodwill, “Correa said.

Alfredo Intriago, president of the Association of Referees of Ecuador, said they will remain on strike indefinitely until the FEF accomplish FIFA rules and the judges can be qualified by the CNA.
