Correa Receives Death Threats on Twitter

Posted On 19 Nov 2011

During the Saturday National broadcast government program, Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa said he has received death threats on Twitter. “We receive threats very often,” Correa said.

“Have you seen how many death threats I received? The other day, someone tweeted: ‘Hail Caesar, we will kill you!, Hail MashiRafael, those who are going to kill you are greeting you!'” he said.

The president asked the Interior Minister, Jose Serrano, to inquire about the authors of these messages, however, he has not received any report yet.

Correa has 142,110 followers since he opened his official Twitter account on July 29th, 2011. (MS)
