Clashes in Tahrir Square left dozens injured
Hundreds of protesters who were sitting in at the Tahrir Square in Cairo on Saturday clashed with Egyptian police, who arrived in the morning to maintain order. Dozens injured and several arrested were the result of the violent clashes.
Riot police had to fight with 200 demonstrators, who threw shells into the security forces, while they responded with baton blows.
The fighting that began in the morning the afternoon with intensified attacks by the riot police who used tear gas, while the demonstrators replied with various projectiles.
Police then withdrew to the streets near Tahrir Square, as protesters demanded the fall of Marshal Tantaui, who heads the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (CSFA), and rose to power since the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak on February 11.
