Correa reiterates that suggestion from Cordicom about suspending spots will be obeyed
President Rafael Correa reiterated yesterday during his Saturday Broadcast that the spots of the campaign ‘CitizenshipSpeaks to the Media’ will not be transmitted following the suggestion of Cordicom. However, he highlighted “the legitimacy and decency” of the campaign.
“Although we do not share it, we will accept the suggestion of Cordicom (Council of Communication) and we will remove thesespots off the air”, he said.
Ecuavisa announced last week that it will not broadcast these spots, since they violate the honor and the rights of journalistsand audience. However, Correa said that the decision of the television station is an act of censorship.
“I do not think that Alfonso Espinosa (Ecuavisa news anchor who is alluded in the spots) has bad faith. Yes, a lot of vanity, a lot of conceit”, said the President.
