The Labour Ecuadorian Parliament, led by Fernando Ibarra and Jaime Arciniegas, announced a lawsuit against the Ecuadorian State before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH), by the decision of the Constitutional Court (CC) of rejecting its request for a referendum.
The group submitted last May a request for a referendum with 12 questions; But last September 17, the Court dismissed it recalling that a package of 16 amendments to the constitution proposed by the ruling party is being processed in the Assembly, and that there is another request about indefinite reelection submitted by Assemblyman Alberto Arias (AP).
