Cristina Fernandez Seeks Reelection
Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (CFK) surprised last night when she made the announcement that she will be running for the reelection in the Argentinean presidential elections to be held in October.
“We will submit to the polls. I have always agreed to the charges by popular will.” She clarified that she has made the announcement because she was “bored” of the versions that circulated in the media.
“I always knew what I had to do and what to do. I knew it on October 28 (editor’s note: in the wake of her husband, former President Nestor Kirchner). I did not know that because I am smart or ambitious. I knew it when thousands and thousands who passed here to say goodbye to him for the very last time shouted me ‘be strong, Cristina’. “
The electoral view is closed with seven candidates to the Casa Rosada presidential palace and the numbers are favorable to the government. According to pollster Artemio López, CFK has 46% of the voter’s intent; Alfonsin of the Radical Civic Union (20), the socialist Hermes Binner (6.7%). Candidates must submit themselves to the primaries on August 14. (FO)
