The use of strong tones, its focus on asymmetry and the alteration of reality are features that characterize the work of the painter from Guayaquil, Lorena Quiroga, who will present her recent production called Sinestesia tomorrow.
“I know that the term synesthesia is not familiar to everyone, but it is the best way I found so that people do not just see what appears on the canvas, not only the drawings, the colors, but also the look a little beyond that. Because I believe that there is always much more behind a painting, there are ideas, there are energies, there are joys, there is music, there are experiences, “says the artist about this series.
Moments, beliefs, feelings have been captured in the 22 works that Quiroga has developed for this exhibition that will open tomorrow, at 7:00 p.m., at the House of Culture, the heart of Guayas. He points out that he has tackled very diverse subjects in this exhibition, “trying to maintain the same style, in which the combination of bright, strong colors prevails”.
She adds that possibly she will also take some of the works she develops under a design brand that she manages: LeQú-Art, in which she creates “colors on simple, everyday wood furniture and accessories to turn them into exclusive pieces of art”.
Among the materials that the artist – who until a few years worked in the field of dentistry – used in this sample are acrylic paints, wood and canvas. “Without wanting to, I have been forming my own style … I am very interested in painting techniques or genres such as naïf or pop art, cubism. So I have tried to add certain elements of these genres of painting in my paintings, and this combination has resulted in a style “, says Quiroga, who adds that one of his paintings will be the cover of Bohemia, a book that the Argentine poet Alejandro García will publish in June.
