Decreases number of affiliations of Ecuadorians to the Spanish Social Security
Since July 2008 the Spanish Social Security has lost 165.558 Ecuadorian members. Acordding to the figures which indicate that there are 97.738 Ecuadorians until July 2013, however, five years ago, during the same period in 2008, the Social Security registered 263.396 Ecuadorians.
In fact, until only a year ago, 119.438 people were registered until the month of July, which means that 21.700 compatriots are no longer included in the Social Security.
The affiliation of foreign members to the Social Security stood in July 2013 at 1′ 632.903, and this figure represents a decline of 8.920 working members, which equals 0.54%. “On an annual basis, the evolution of the rate of affiliation of people of foreign origin remains negative,” thus implies a statement of the Ministry of employment.
William Macas, President of the Association of Ecuadorians in Catalonia, said that many of his countrymen have ceased to contribute to the social security since they have returned to their country, or have migrated to other countries, due to the lack of employment, and some have been nationalized and have ceased to appear in the records as a foreign.
