Ecuadorian police seizes millions in cocaine
On Tuesday, August 20, Guayaquil police seized 4.4 tons of cocaine hidden in a load of palm that was to be sent to Spain from the port of Guayaquil.
The drug was discovered last Friday, it was previously estimated at 3.2 tons of cocaine, but after a more thorough check it was determined that the exact amount was 4.4 tons. Interior Minister Jose Serrano announced this, during a press conference with senior police commanders.
This apprehension of this expensive narcotic was the largest that has been done so far this year, which already totals 32.6 tons seized in 2013.
In the operation that seized the cocaine, valued at $ 275 million, were captured four Ecuadorians, including officials of the exporting company.
