Demand and price of Ecuadorian shrimp recovers
According to Intrafish, a specialized portal, the biggest challenges for shrimp producers in the country are: disease management, growth of sustainable production and competitive market.
“The Ecuadorian shrimp demand is slowly recovering, again, with the strengthening of prices, especially for larger sizes after the massive falls in the first half of the year.”
“Prices are rising because demand has increased in the past two weeks,” said Alvaro Serantes Canestro, commercial director of Songa, in a report replicated by the National Chamber of Aquaculture. “The market is very good, and the Chinese, in particular, is very strong in large sizes.”
Demand is accelerating in all areas, noted José Antonio Camposano, chief executive of the chamber.
