Designer from Quito was nominated for the Latin Grammy
On September 25, ecuadorian artist Belén Mena, 41, was nominated for Best Recording Package at the Latin Grammys, after developing the scheme of the musical and photographic production ‘De Taitas and Mamas”, an object book which contain six cd’s, photographs, postcards and stories about the folk musical heritage of this country.
The project “De Taitas y de Mamas” took life thanks to the work of Ivis Flies, his wife Mariana Pizarro, and his 21 co-production partners. The idea was to preserve popular music, its legend, its roots, its traditions and the legacy of their ancestors.
“I really did not expect it (…) It has been a pleasant surprise to know that there is a recognition of not only the graphics, but the story told through it this package. (…) We also wanted to keep the reflection of our experience as a team and turn it into a historical document, “says Belen
The ceremony of the Latin Grammy Awards will be held on November 21. The material is available in the Espanola bookstore .
