Businesswoman Galician Rosalía Mera Goyenechea, has died aged 69 after suffering a stroke. His death was in Corunna, where she lived.

Considered by Forbes as Spain’s richest woman, suffered a stroke while spending a few days relaxing in Menorca with his daughter Sandra.

Mera, at age 11 he left school to work as a seamstress and became the richest woman in Spain and one of the strongest in the world after founding the empire Inditex Amancio Ortega with her ex-husband.

 

His first job was in ‘La Maja’, a clothing store on St. Andrew Street, where he worked with the brothers Ortega Amancio and Antonio. Rosalia Mera and Amancio Ortega married in a church of La Coruna in the 60s and at that time, despite having some stability in ‘La Maja’, initiated a project, ‘Zara’, which she took as their own. They decided to stop producing for others and began to manufacture and distribute their own products.

The Forbes magazine valued his fortune at $ 4,724 million, which ranked at 66 of the most powerful in the world and the only Spanish woman listed in this publication.
