Ecuador adopted three resolutions as president of the UN Security Council
Ecuador, as president of the Security Council of the United Nations (UN), adopted three resolutions. This fact was confirmed by the Foreign Ministry on December 3, 2023.
After a negotiation process, the program presented by Ecuador, for its presidency of the UN Security Council, was approved by its 15 members.
The program includes meetings that will allow the Council’s efforts to focus on the threats of transnational organized crime to international peace and security and illicit arms trafficking.
The permanent representative of Ecuador to the United Nations, Ambassador José De la Gasca, presented the work program to the 193 Member States of the United Nations.
On Ecuador’s first day as President of the Security Council, three resolutions were adopted on: Al Shabaab, the arms embargo in Somalia and the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan.
