Ecuador and CAN reviewed Peru complaints

Posted On 18 Jun 2014

sr.patiñoRicardo Patino, Ecuador Chancellor, met yesterday in Quito with the Secretary of the Andean Comunicad of Nations (CAN for its Spanish acronym) to review measures applied by Peru to Ecuadorian products.

Among the products include white goods such as cookers, refrigerators; besides footwear, perfumes and cosmetics. These have been questioned by Peru as articles that do not comply with the rules of origin in order to be marketed in the CAN.

The meeting also addressed the request to suspend the Resolution 116 of the Committee for Foreign Trade (Comexfor its Spanish acronym) adopted by the Can Secretariat.

The results of the meeting were not made public.
