Ecuador wants to become a “true tourist power,” as the country aspires to receive as many tourists as its inhabitants “in an intelligent and responsible way,” according to Tourism Minister Enrique Ponce de León. “I hope that my country has a 1×1 (16 million tourists per 16 million inhabitants), but the promotion has to be” intelligent,” said Ponce de León during his visit to Madrid, his first destination as a minister.
