Ecuador Celebrated a Yellow Party [Photo Gallery]

After nearly 15 years without a title, Ecuadorian soccer idol team, Barcelona Sporting Club, won its fourteenth National Championship. The crown, reached last Wednesday (Nov. 28th), was finally achieved in its own house, the Monumental Stadium, this Sunday (Dec. 2nd), which was dressed fully and completely in yellow, when the team defeated the Olmedo from Riobamba  3-1.

The party started early in the morning. Hundreds of fans held vigils at the gates of the Barcelona’s stadium. Before noon around 70,000 people painted a yellow stage in the sports arena.

Ecuadorian singer Daniela Guzman opened the musical show then give way to Guayaquil City Band that delighted the fans with the official song  “Amarillo es mi color.” .” The musical event culminated with the presentation of  Juan Manuel Oleagoitia and canary team famous song:  “Dale Barcelona”. Later, singer Martin Guerrero sang Barcelona Anthem, chanted by the fans.

Barcelona, anticipated champion because of Deportivo Quito’s victory against Emelec last Wednesday, closed the season with two goals of  Narciso Mina (scorer of the tournament), and one from Jose Amaya. Andres Vinueza of Olmedo put the discount to visitors

By obtaining the fourteenth title, Barcelona from Guayaquil, Ecuador’s most popular team, went on to command the background of local football, thanks to the efforts of club president Antonio Noboa, his leadership and technical direction of Argentinean coach Gustavo Costas.
