Pope Benedict XVI Already has a Twitter Account
Pope Benedict XVI already has a Twitter account, which will be @pontifex. The Vatican informed this Monday that the Pope would begin to twit since December 12 during the celebrations of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Greg Burke, the media advisor of The Vatican stated, “The name of the account is a good idea. It means ‘Pope’ and also ‘builder of bridges’.”
The Pope twits will be published in Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese, German, Polish, Arab and French. Other languages will be added in the future. Burke said that the twits of the Pope would be about the contents about his weekly general audience, on Sundays it will be about blessings and church events.
“The Pope wants to reach the whole world,” said Burke during a press conference, adding that the first Pope twits will be replies to questions sent to @pontifex.
