Ecuador defeats Chile in Quito
The Ecuadorian soccer team won yesterday afternoon, the qualifying match against Chile, within the ninth date for Brazil 2014 World Cup.
During the first half, eager to reject a shot, Ecuadorian player Juan Carlos Paredes scored an own goal that put the Chilean team in advantage. However, minutes after, the locals were able to dominate the match and Felipe Caicedo, with a pass from Luis Saritama, scored the tying goal at minute 32.
The second half started, and nine minutes passed when Renato Ibarra was knocked down in the area by Contreras, who was expelled from the game, leaving Chile with ten men. The penalty was taken by Caicedo, turning the scoreboard 2-1.
Coach Reinaldo Rueda made the following changes: Jaime Ayovi for Caicedo and Christian Noboa for Rojas, who balanced the midfield.
Chilean player Vidal fouled a rival, leaving Chile with only nine players on the field.
Playing the last minute of addition, Segundo Castillo took a corner kick executed by Jefferson Montero to score a third goal and sentence the match by 3-1 for Ecuador. “La TRI” won the game, which put the Ecuadorian team among the leaders, also remaining undefeated as local.
