Ecuador Embassy is Waiting to Repatriate Compatriots from Japan

Posted On 17 Mar 2011

Ecuadorian Embassy in Japan is monitoring the Ecuadorians that can still be found outside the areas of risk.

Javier Ponce Leiva, Ambassador of Ecuador in Japan, confirmed that the compatriots, who were located on a nuclear hazard zone, are now out of danger and they are gathered in Tokyo. He stated: “what embassy knows is that there are no Ecuadorians inside the risk areas”.

Although it is believed a forthcoming repatriation, he said that there are some complications, adding that the solution is not the immediately return to Ecuador because of the many cases of couples with children in Japan, who are more likely to stay in the country. In this case, families would be moved to safe places.

In spite of believing that it’s still pretty premature considering the returning pf the compatriots, Ponce reaffirmed that the Government will help through the embassy. “(…) I am sending you a summary of all the different countries are turning to their citizens for the Government to analyze the solution for our people”, he said.
