Ecuador exposed to the CAN thesis to maintain resolution 116
Posted On 22 Jul 2014
Agustín Ortiz, General Director of the Ecuadorian Standardization Service, presented to the Andean Community of Nations (CAN for its Spanish acronym), the national thesis for the implementation of resolution 116, the quality law that Peru and Colombia say have reduced their sales to Ecuador.
The CAN investigates whether the rule restricts intra-subregional trade and contradicts the Cartagena Agreement.
Ortiz explained that the law is applied to goods entering or leaving Ecuador. “We started by increasing the standards of home manufactured products”, he added.
