URDANETA, Los Rios

Until yesterday afternoon  the km. 80 of the Flavio Alfaro – El Carmen road was interrupted due to the fact that more than 50 thousand cubic meters of mud  fell from a mountain last Saturday on this route that connects the provinces of Manabi, Santo Domingo and Quito. The mudslide, product of the heavy rains, left no human victims.

On the other hand, in the weekend was reported the collapse of a bridge in Esmeraldas, because of the overflow of a river; as well as the increase of the water levels of streams in the center, north and south of this province that flooded several houses.

In the province of Los Ríos, the Urdaneta canton was the most affected after enduring 12 hours of intense rain, because of this, as an emerging work, the Prefecture offered to pay $15 to fill sacks of sand and locating them on the banks of the River to prevent the water to enter to the parish center.

Likewise, in Guayaquil also was felt the devastation of the heavy rains, the service of potable water was suspended because of the fall of a lightning bolt  early Saturday morning at the water treatment plant La Toma,  Interagua said.

The service returned to the Center and South of the city on Saturday at 21:00 after around 12 hours after the suspension.
