It was manifested by Ecuador’s foreign minister, Ricardo Patino who will attend the meeting of foreign ministers that are State members of the American Convention on Human Rights, to be carried out in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Patino will participate in the event scheduled for the upcoming May 14. The meeting in Cochabamba is the “Second Conference of States members of the American Convention on Human Rights,” which will be held in the village of Tiquipaya. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the many initiatives that aim to strengthen the system of the Organization of American States (OAS).

While the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), which include Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela request that the headquarters of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) be removed from Washington (USA), since it’s not part of the Convention.

For its part, Ecuador seeks to minimize the ability of the Commission to issue interim measures, since the country is currently under these rules.
