The Ambassador of Ecuador in United States, Nathalie Cely, aspires that the “waters to calm down ,” in order to have new “meetings” with her counterpart in that country, Adam Namm.
The last week, the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, and Foreign Minister, Ricardo Patiño, made a call for attention to Namm for having participated in an act of commemoration of the world day of freedom of press, organized by the National Union of journalists (UNP).
The officer was last Thursday in Quito due to a call from the President to participate in a workshop on trade policy, that the Executive wants to promote in his next term.
Cely had held meetings with Namm, days ago to promote a bilateral dialogue and said to be optimistic and believe that the differences can be resolved within the framework of dialogue.
“There will be many subjects that can unite us and deepen our cooperation agenda,” he said. However, after being consulted if the country is optimistic about a possible renewal of the Andean Trade Preference ( Atpdea) he ratified that the conditions are “very difficult”.
In his view, the Ecuadorian products benefiting from the Atpdea should seek other markets. He relies that an agreement with the European Union can become a reality.
