Ecuador will be included in the report about freedom in the Net
Different platforms transmitted today the presentation of the annual report on freedom in the network 2013, that will be presented at the headquarters of Google in Washington, DC, and includes Ecuador for the first time.
The responsible for the presentation will be Freedom House, a nonprofit Organization that is dedicated to the research and promotion of democracy, political freedom and human rights.
The report shows an analysis of the current situation and the historical behavior, and the use of the Internet in various countries of Latin America. The analysis about Ecuador refers to the period between may of 2012 and April of 2013.
According to a statement from Usuarios Digitales, the research carried out by Carlos Correa Loyola (@calu), member of the website, addresses issues related to levels of penetration, the access to technology and the Internet in rural areas, the high cost of access services, comments on the quality of services of telecommunications, etc.
This text also includes a revision of the promotion of the Ecuadorian Government regarding the infrastructure and the creation of centers of public Internet access, and citizens’ access to social networks to address different issues, as well as the opening of channels for interactive participation of candidates and electoral proposals.
