Ecuadorian Coast Sea Showed Unusual Movements

SALINAS

In Santa Elena province, in the beach of Salinas, unusual movements were reported; the sea began to withdraw several meters to allow the arrival of strong waves produced by the tsunami as it began after the quake in Japan.

MANTA

In the coast of Manta, Manabi province the sea remained normal. Those that were evacuated remain in shelters. In Manta the sea remains normal, at the moment. Several tourists left to Montecristi city as part of an evacuation plan.

At least 200 people have arrived to the shelters by their own means, but the supplies have no reached them yet. In Montecristi, only cookies and milk has been delivered. In the shelter of the Jocay Stadium in Manta the supper is being delivered.

ESMERALDAS

In the Esmeraldas province, the beach Las Palmas remains calm, but in Rio Verde the water began to retreat.
