The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the inoculation was carried out by the city’s Health Department, in collaboration with the consular body and with the Together We Can and Elmhurst Community Partnership organizations.
The compatriots registered between March 23 and 31 in a list requested by the Consulate to prepare the database and deliver it to the authorities of the state of New York. Prior to vaccination, it was evaluated that the registered persons fulfilled the requirements to receive the antidote.
The vaccine that was supplied to the Ecuadorians was manufactured by the Janssen laboratory, of the Jhonson & Jhonson company. This biological provides 60% immunity against covid-19 and only needs to be supplied in one dose.
The inoculation of migrants in the New York sectors of Manhattan and Queens is separate from the Vaccine Plan carried out by Ecuador in the national territory. Until April 4, in the country 89,349 people have been vaccinated with two doses, according to data from the Ministry of Health. (I)
