Ecuadorian wins World Chess Championship

Carla Heredia Serrano won the World Amateur Championship an important achievement in the sport of chess
The championship took place in Greece and brought together 240 chess players from 27 countries. Carla at 24, managed to do four tables and five wins for a total of seven points from a possible nine.
Last year she was named as the best chess player by the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE) and the Sports Concentration of Pichincha, for her sporting merit studied Sports Psychology at the University of Texas (Texas Tech), in the US, thanks to a scholarship.
“This year chess is not part of the competitive program of the Ministry of Sport,” Carla told Express newspaper. Because it was not supported by any company to cost participation.
