Ecuarunari resorts to the UN while processes continue
The Ecuarunari expects the academic visit of the special rapporteur of the United Nations (UN) for the rights of indigenous peoples, Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, in order to denounce supposed effects of extractive activities, said its head Carlos Perez Guartambel.
Perez explained that at the request of the Ecuarunari, the State Universities of Cuenca and Andina Simon Bolivar invited Tauli-Corpuz, before the demonstrations, to deliver lectures; the group wants to take her to a tour thorugh areas with extractive activity and explain her the situation of the population.
they have not received no response from the Rapporteur yet, Perez said that at least this will help to learn on the subject, because the invitation is attached with documentation for analysis.
