Efren Roca Dismisses Extension of Signatures

Efren Roca
Efren Roca, the director of the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) of Guayas, Ecuador, corrected last Monday’s declarations in a press conference.
Roca explained that there was going to be a three-week extension for political groups that delivered their registration signatures until last Wednesday so they can deliver more if they needed it, in order to fulfill the registration process. According to an announcement made today, Roca clarified that such extension was an information mistake.
The CNE director pointed out that the delegation of Guayas does not have the capabilities to make signature extensions. Roca added that the only entity capable of such decisions is the main assembly of CNE, but they haven’t taken any decision.
The CNE calendar ratified that the period for political parties to register for the upcoming elections of 2013 expired last July 18. (AV)
