This Friday the newly-appointment Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Qandil stated that a new cabinet will be finalized on Friday and would be officially announced on Saturday.
However, Qandil’s office informed that the new cabinet announcement would be postponed as consultations on the awaited selections are still being studied. The date for the announcement of the cabinet will be revealed on Saturday. One of the more controversial issues regarding the new cabinet is the selection of Egypt’s new defense minister.
Earlier in the day, Qandil met with the former prime minister Kamal El-Ganzouri to discuss the challenges that await the new government and the ten-year plan prepared by him to boost the economy of Egypt. The meeting took place at the General Investment Authority, the temporary seat of government. (AV)
