Emelec beat Liga de Quito at the Casa Blanca Stadium

Liga de Quito vs Emelec

This afternoon, Club Sport Emelec defeated Liga de Quito by 2-1 at the Casa Blanca Stadium in the first match which will  define the vice champion of the National Soccer Championship.

During the first half, Marlon de Jesus opened the scoring for Emelec after a “heel move” by Marcos Mondaini at minute 30. The goal motivated the blue team, which caused two clear actions to increase the score.

Paul Vitti tied The game a few minutes before the end of the first half, after a confusing play in the penalty area.

In the second half, Liga de Quito tried to dominate the game, however an unfortunate play of Neicer Reasco (Liga), allowed Mondaini to score the second goal for Emelec.

Now Emelec is looking for a tie or a victory against Liga de Quito this Sunday 16 at the Capwell stadium in Guayaquil, because with either of these two results, they would automatically become part of the list of teams who will compete in the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. In this case, Liga must face playoff games to aspire to these tournaments.

But if Liga achieve the victory against Emelec, this Sunday, penalties shall define  which team goes directly to the Libertadores and Sudamericana.
