Yesterday, FIFA’s marketing director, Thierry Weil, confirmed that it won’t be Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, who will perform the official song for the 2014 World Cup, in Brazil.

“That’s not my area, but I can say there will be three singers and one of them will be Brazilian,” said the principal during a press conference.

Weil said that the confusion arose when the recorder responsible held an international competition to choose one of the songs to be included on the official album of the 2014 World Cup, and Ricky Martin was on the list of jurors.

The first version, now disproved, stated that the singer would perform the official song of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, as he did in France ‘98 with the theme “The Cup of Life.”
